Dayton Ohio SEO

Dayton Ohio SEO, aka search engine optimization.  This is an area when developing a website can can very complicated, yet can be quite simple.

I have read a lot of different articles and books about this aspect, but here I’m going to summarize things that I’ve done for search engine optimization that has worked.

What is SEO and even more fine-tuned, what is Dayton Ohio SEO?

The result of good SEO is when someone goes to a search engine such as Google and types in a keyword - i.e. Dayton Ohio Divorce Lawyer - thousands to millions of website results appear down the left side and perhaps the right side.

Ignore the right side for the time being. These are paid ads those websites have participated in for this keyword.

The left side shows the organic results and the top spots are sits that Google deems most relevant based on this search term and/or sites that have done a great job at SEO.

When I did this search 208K results came back which isn’t a lot and a great term to try and compete for at least on the surface.

Also, you will see localized results with a Google map placement of each business and contact information.  This is similar to the yellow pages, but much more powerful as this is one spot you want to end up.

So, how does all this work?

First, this piece may take some time to build momentum.  I have seen sites get in the top 10 within a day or two, but many times it takes a month or more depending on the search term and SEO tactics being done.

Currently there are a number of ways to work on your search engine rankings that I have learned and implemented from other experts.

There is on page and off page criteria, but without getting too technical, let’s just break down the simple aspects that most say to focus on.  I have also seen many experts who claim not to be pros at SEO and still do well in the search engines.

Many companies will make this complicated to sell you high end services, but it doesn’t have to be.

Here is our short checklist…

**Keyword research - this is vital. Choosing the right keywords can really make a dramatic impact on your rankings.  There are many tools out there that allow you to see the transparency of how well keywords do based on number of searches and so forth.  We can certainly dive deeper into this aspect because when you research keywords you can look at general terms vs. long tail terms.

To keep this simplified, you could build a section around “Dayton Real Estate” or you could get more targeted or specific and set up a section around “Beavercreek Real Estate Properties for Sale” - see how one gets more detailed than the other?  The former will be much more competitive and tougher to rank high for.  You have a much better chance with the latter - that is what we tend to focus on.

**Using description and title tags.  This is easily done and quite important to utilize meta tags so the search engine spiders can find your site based on the search terms you provide.

**Providing great content and easy navigation.  This is something you don’t see a lot of.  Content can be articles, video, audio, and other.  You also want to make sure your visitors will find what they are looking for.  For example, if you offer search functions, make them easy to drive with.  There’s nothing worse than wasting someone’s valuable time with a lot of fancy stuff and the person gets frustrated because what they were looking for is impossible to find.

**Embedding your keywords within your content.  You don’t want to overdo this aspect, but there are places that putting your keywords will benefit you.  For example, putting them in the headline and within the first few hundred words is good.  Also providing a text link with the keyword in it works as well.

**Building links - this is one area others state is key - at least at this point until things perhaps change in the search engine world.  This is done within your website structure and outside through various means.  It is basically find high value and perhaps relevant sites where you can put a link back to your site on.  There are tools to do this and companies who focus solely on these types of aspects.

Does this get a lot more technical?  Yes. Can this change at the drop of a hat? Yes. But for now and for years these have appeared to work for many web marketers and designers.
