Branding
Today will be a simple post on branding. I am not the branding expert of the family as that is where my brother comes into play.
Does branding your product or service really matter especially when you’re a small business?
I have to say that it needs to be implemented into your marketing campaigns and your design work - definitely.
Let me give you an example or two to show you why branding can truly help you stand out and make a difference.
My brother and I were at one of the major home improvement stores the other day. He was actually showing me one of the packages he had designed which I thought was pretty cool.
However, he had mentioned that most businesses don’t truly use the power of design to make their products stand out.
As we were walking the isles we came across a product that immediately stood out in a product line that is otherwise a boring but useful product…
It was the Gorilla brand - they make glue, tape, and other home improvement products. The colors and packaging made this brand stand out compared to every other one in the isle.
Not to mention that the product is good, but that is not what we’re discussing in this post. The point is that it’s important to consider how your company appears to consumers. Most folks don’t take this into consideration or get expert advice when it comes to these aspects.
I know entrepreneurs who have even taken products that have been around for a long time and they repackaged the product, marketed it differently, and were able to become number 1 in the marketplace overtaking the companies that had been around forever.
This is the power of branding and marketing. A good author that is spectacular at talking about branding and marketing uniquely is Seth Godin.
Check him out if you want to try and learn branding and marketing on your own and implement them into your company’s strategy.
To your success - I will try and get Grant to follow up and shed more light on this particular topic.
