Blogging Your Local Business

Do you know what blogging your local business means?  Does your local business website need a blog?

I’m starting to see a lot of local business websites beginning to pop up with blogs.  This is typically a smart tactic that if done correctly can add tremendous value to your site and business credibility.

Blogging is nothing new. In fact, savvy marketers have discovered that blogging your local business is one of the best Internet marketing methods that won’t cost you a cent.

Although others are beginning to catch on, it is one tool in your web marketing arsenal that doesn’t hurt to have.  The key though is to stay on top of it and consistently make posts that are relevant and offer valuable content, updates, and information to your visitors.

Some business owners believe that if they blog they’ll give away too much information.  One thing you must realize is that information is the major component that people go to the web for.  The critical factor is to guide them, give them information, and promote them to take action and do something such as sign up for your newsletter, contact you via form or phone, visit your store, purchase something, etc…

So, what exactly is blogging your local business? Blog is the widely used term that refers to web log. Basically, a blog is an online journal. A blog could be set up to no cost at all, and can be used for just for the fun of it or for business reasons.

Blogging for your local business is one surefire way to boost the visibility of your products and services. Here are a few ways to boost your internet advertising with the help of a blog:

1. Make your clients or customers abreast on your website’s alterations. Your new products and affiliate websites could also be announced through your blog.  The search engines love blogs and updates.  It’s also a great way to rank well for your main website.

2. Keep track of your business objectives and plans through open writing. Your blog content can be easily stored through archives. What could be better than searchable information that could be easily accessed by anyone browsing the web, right?

3. Air your opinions, advice or reviews on specific services or products that are related to your business. Publishing is a very easy process with blogging.

4. Include links that will fetch back links and subsequently improve your ranking on search engines. This could be better executed through putting well-written articles in your website.  Other forms of revenue can be generated with blogs as well.  You can pre-sell visitors with well written content and interesting topics.

5. Collect response through the ability of blogs to fetch comments from your blog readers. You can learn and improve your products and services through with the feedback from your readers.  This is priceless a lot of your clients won’t leave you honest feedback in person as it is confrontational.  They will just leave and never come back.  Now they can leave their feedback and perhaps you still have a chance to save them - plus you’ll know exactly why they left.

Blogging your local business can also create a tremendous buzz and become quite viral.  This just simply means that others will post your articles on their blogs or site, others will talk about your blog in forums and groups, etc…

In fact, this is our blog for DaytonOhioWebMarketing.com - this will lead into our service site that talks even more about our products and services.  However the blog allows us to keep you abreast to ideas and changes when it comes to using the web to market your local business.
